
Lance Naik Jagjit Singh, Kirti Chakra (Posthumous), is remembered for his courage and supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir during Operation Rakshak.
Serving with the 2nd Battalion, The Sikh Regiment (2 SIKH), Lance Naik Jagjit Singh laid down his life in the line of duty on 3 October 1992 during counter-terrorist operations in Jammu & Kashmir.
His service came during a challenging period when Indian Army personnel were conducting sustained operations against terrorism in the region. Lance Naik Jagjit Singh displayed courage and devotion to duty while serving his unit and the nation.
For his gallantry and supreme sacrifice, he was awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously, one of India's distinguished peacetime gallantry awards.
